How TOTP Works

  1. A shared secret key is established between you and the service (e.g. Google, GitHub).
  2. Your browser combines the secret with the current time to generate a 6-digit code.
  3. The service independently computes the same code. If they match, you are authenticated.

Privacy: Your secret keys never leave your browser. All codes are generated locally using the Web Crypto API.
